Addressing Dressing

The title of the book I’m yet to write.

The first time I remember using this phrase was in 2019 when I made a zine “Hot Tips for Cool Weather”. (Film reading at end.)

I thought about it again in 2021 after I read Charlie Porter’s What Artist’s Wear. Deciding that one day I’d bring together all the bits and pieces I’d written over the years and assemble into something tangible.

2025 now, and although no manuscript (is it called that if it’s not fiction?), I do have 21 substack articles published, and another 7 sitting in drafts.

The practice of writing every day I’ve been enjoying.

Most mornings I journal. And a few times a week I sit on a park bench and write freely in my notes app. Next thing I know it’s been an hour and I need to get back to sewing.

I’m quickly tapping down these notes while lying in bed. (The no tech rule in my bedroom has gotten a little slack now the weather is cooling.)

Thoughts for future chat points ~

My green trench coat.
What style / taste / capsule wardrobes mean to me now, as opposed to last year or five years ago.

Time off social media vs time on. Content creators talking about style. How being ON social media seems to reduce personal sense of style.

Looking up. People watching. Eavesdropping!

What I’d like to include in the book Addressing Dressing I’ve yet to write. (I’m not entirely sure of the answer to this but it seems like a good question to try to work through!)
